Local Attractions - Things to See and Do

At The Seaside

Local Towns & Villages

Skegness – 6 miles/10-minute drive

  • Various indoor and outdoor attractions – bowling alleys, cinema, amusements, fair ground, crazy golf, lovely beach and lots of places to grab fish & chips, ice cream. The town centre has a few high street shops. The pier has recently reopened and there is a short parade along the sea front. 


Ingoldmells – 4 miles/10-minute drive

  • Fantasy Island! Theme Park rides. You can pre-book a day/2-day pass or simply pay per ride. Lots of parking around the area and also lots of food stalls too. It’s free entry – so no pressure to go on the rides!


Chapel St Leonards

  • Smaller seaside town with a few shops and attractions, lovely beach


Mablethorpe – 20 miles/30-minute drive

  • Various indoor and outdoor attractions including a Seal Sanctuary


Sutton on Sea - 18 miles/25-minute drive

  • Lovely quiet seaside town – you can walk along the promenade all the way to Mablethorpe (1 hour walk one-way)

Burgh Le Marsh – 1 mile/25-minute walk – to support the local town! 

  • Bakery, grocery, pubs, bus stop, church, hairdressers, Antiques shop, Tinkers Green play park…


Louth – 20 miles/30-minute drive

  • Lots of lovely local shops, theatre and restaurants


Alford – 10 miles/20-minute drive

  • A lovely craft shop and great place to start exploring the Wolds


Horncastle – 15 miles/25-minute drive

  • Local shops, restaurants and walks


Lincoln – 30 miles/50-minute drive

  • Visit the beautiful cathedral, great shopping and lots to see

Walking to Burgh Le Marsh

‘Secluded’ Beaches – linked by a lovely pathway in the dunes

 Walking directions to the Burgh Le Marsh, the local town:

  • Turn left when leaving The Lazy Buzzards and follow the lane all the way to the A158
  • Keep to the right when approaching the main road (A158) and follow the path round to the right
  • You can then cross over the A158 (please do not let your children cross without adult supervision)
  • Follow the path through the trees 
  • Continue along this road (still Common Lane) until you reach Claremont Road – you can either go down Claremont Road and pass through the alley way which brings you out at Tinkers Green (field and play park) OR cross over Claremont Road, continue straight, turn right at the end and carry on until you reach the Chippy!

There are a number of secluded beaches just north of Chapel St Leonards – from around 20 minutes’ drive from The Lazy Buzzards:


North Sea Observatory – lovely café and parking available for beach access


Chapel Six Marshes – just limited parking onsite (no toilets)


Wolla Bank Beach – just limited parking onsite (no toilets)


Anderby Creek – popular with locals – limited parking and there are toilets and a small shop


Huttoft Beach – lovely café and drive-up beach car park (see photo)

Tattershall – Castle and walks

Hubbards Hill – enclosed park with hills and streams

Snipe Dales – nature reserve and woodland walk

Gibraltar Point – beautiful nature reserve with inland and beach walks

Donna Nook – Seal Watching (Winter months)

Lincolnshire Wolds – lots of lovely walks

Wild Pines – High ropes, zip wires, archery and crazy golf

Skegness Seal Sanctuary – rescued and rehabilitated seals
